The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has inaugurated the newly refurbished National Defence College Officers’ Mess in Abuja.

During the ceremony, he urged uniformed officers to maintain a unified operational structure and demonstrate professionalism in their duties.

In a statement, Akpabio emphasised the facility’s significance as a hub for strategic discussions and fostering unity among the armed forces. He stated, “As we unveil this remodeled facility, we recommit to the ideals of excellence, discipline, and service that this institution represents.”

Akpabio praised the National Defence College for producing distinguished officers who have served the nation with honor. He also commended those who contributed to the project’s success, particularly the College’s Commandant and team.

The Senate President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces, saying the project as an example.

He said, “This facility is a sanctuary for those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. It is a place where future leaders of our armed forces will gather, learn, and grow.”

The Commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral O. M. Olotu, noted that the Officers’ Mess serves as a relaxation space for College personnel and embodies the support given to the armed forces.

He commended Akpabio, a long-standing patron of the College, for his contributions, including the provision of the refurbished facility.
